Google proposes to spin out its advertising business

A leak from the US Justice Department said Google has offered to split its advertising business into a separate stand-alone Alphabet-owned company to appease an antitrust suit. The offer follows a report from Reuters that Google proposed letting competitors place ads on YouTube as part of a compromise with EU antitrust enforcers. If confirmed, Google appears to be considering serious changes to its business structure to divert anti-competition matters.
