NI Executive not expecting additional funds for PSNI data breach

In a statement on Monday, 4 November 2024, the Minister of Finance for Northern Ireland, Caoimhe Archibald, said that the Northern Ireland Executive is unlikely to receive one-off funding from the government to address the financial impact of the PSNI personal data breach in 2023.

The Executive had aimed to submit a reserve claim for additional funding from the Treasury to cover costs potentially reaching £240 million.

Archibald informed Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) that the Treasury insists these costs should be managed within the Executive's existing budget.
