Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland data breach

The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland (PONI) has issued an apology following a personal data breach affecting 160 current and former staff members. The incident involved the inadvertent release of a document containing details about 22 individuals who were invited to a job interview. The breached information included the surnames and first initials of all staff employed at PONI in May 2022, along with the areas in which individuals worked and, in some cases, their working patterns.

PONI has notified the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and has committed to an independent review of the incident.
