Belgian DPA publishes 2021 Annual Report

The Belgium Data Protection Authority (DPA) has published its 2021 annual report, calling it a record year. Requests for advice rose 87%, while complaints soared 181% over the previous year. Facebook's 2021 data breach affecting 533m users led to an unprecedented 1,928 complaints being received throughout the year, with a total of 1,120 stemming from that breach alone. The DPA also said COVID-19 featured heavily throughout the year with enforcement-related decisions and data processing guidance issued.
