In one of his first actions since taking up the post, Information Commissioner John Edwards took the unusual step of giving an interview to the Big Issue North, the street newspaper for people experiencing homelessness. In the interview (details of which were announced on the ICO in the media page last week), Mr Edwards discussed how privacy applies to everyone in the community, and in particular whether vulnerable people receive the protection they need in the UK. Mr Edwards also discussed enforcement of social media companies, government plans to reform UK data protection laws as well as his views on the state of freedom of information.
In a related post, the rights of people experiencing homelessness were discussed in a white paper by the Connection at St Martins-in-the-Fields charity last year.
