The Public Governance Committee and Working Party of Senior Digital Government Officials within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have developed a Draft Recommendation on the Governance of Digital Identity. The digital ID recommendations are a set of principles based on three pillars:
- Developing user-centred and inclusive digital identity systems
- Strengthening the governance of digital identity
- Enabling cross-border use of digital identity
The recommendations outline the benefits that the OECD believes digital identities can offer, including simplified access to government services.
A consultation period to submit comments on the draft until 31 March is open for government officials, civil society organisations, international organisations and other interested parties.
