A Letter from the Scottish Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner Professor Dr Brian Plastow to Carol Monaghan MP, who sits on the Westminster Committee considering the Data Protection and Digital Information (No.2) Bill (DPDI No.2 Bill), expands on the concerns raised last week's response to the DPDI No.2 Bill Committee

The Scottish Parliament takes the police use of biometric data very seriously and has created the role of the Scottish Biometrics Commissioner to address this issue. While the DPDI No.2 Bill may not directly impact the Scottish Commissioner, there will be devolution consequences for Scotland due to references to the Commissioner for England and Wales in the Scottish Biometrics Commissioner Act 2020.
