CMA accuses Google of anti-competitive advertising practices in UK

On Friday, 6 September 2024, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published a statement of objections issued to Google following an investigation, which provisionally found the company has "abused its dominant position" in online advertising, which it claims could be harming thousands of UK publishers and advertisers.

The CMA said Google's anti-competitive behaviour is ongoing and that the regulator will consider what is required to bring an end to the illegal practices.
