The CMA highlights tensions between privacy and competition and urges the government to mitigate these in its approach to data protection, particularly where privacy is "inappropriately used as a mask for anti-competitive behaviour." While the CMA welcomes the intention to enable greater access to data, they also warn against taking away individuals data rights as this would harm public confidence and trust.
