The French Data Protection Authority (DPA), the CNIL, confirmed that on 27 March, France ratified the Council of Europe Convention 108+, an amending protocol to modernise the original Convention 108 for the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data. "This is an important step in the process of bringing this new version of the only binding international treaty on the protection of personal data into force," the press release said.
