The French data protection authority (DPA), the CNIL, has Apple €8 million over alleged non-consensual advertisement tracking following a recommendation by CNIL rapporteur François Pellegrini in December last year. A 2021-22 CNIL investigation found iPhone IOS 14.6 users had identifiers attached to their devices for the purpose of serving targeted ads without consent when they entered the Apple App Store.
