Google unveils European data sovereign cloud

Google has provided further details about its sovereign cloud capabilities for European enterprises during the first day of its user conference. The new initiative, 'Cloud. On Europe's Terms' will "demonstrate our commitment to deliver cloud services that provide the highest levels of digital sovereignty, all while enabling the next wave of growth and transformation for Europe's businesses and organisations." Google sees its sovereign solutions as a useful tool to support General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance following legal rulings such as the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) Schrems II ruling.
