The Council of the European Union has approved the Data Governance Act (DGA), the last step in the process to full adoption, after the European Parliament gave its support on 7 April. The framework seeks to provide companies with increased access to public-sector data to develop new products and services. The DGA will enable the "safe reuse of certain categories of public-sector data," including personal data, and sets out rules for cross-border transfers of non-personal data. The new regulation will apply 15 months after it enters into effect—20 days after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
