EU Council reaches agreement on proposed AI Act language

The Council of the European Union has announced member states have reached a common position on the draft EU Artificial Intelligence Act. The council highlighted its position on classification and requirements for high-risk AI systems along with provisions for the proposed AI Board. Czech Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization Ivan Bartoš said the council "managed to achieve a delicate balance" that covers industry benefits and "full respect of the fundamental rights of our citizens."
