The Counter Ransomware Initiative (CRI) has called for more frequent offensive measures against ransomware gangs. The CRI, whose membership comprises 68 countries, including the UK, US and EU, proposes that members prioritise and ramp up disruption operations to combat a significant rise in ransomware attacks along with the proliferation of infrastructure and tools utilised by ransomware gangs.
The CRI is set to launch a counter-ransomware fund led by USAID, provide guidance for ransomware attack victims, establish a Canadian private sector advisory panel, introduce an Australian-developed website for member countries to seek assistance with ransomware attacks, and expand cybersecurity supply chain efforts.
