Survey finds 45% of UK energy companies disrupted by cyberattacks

New research by cybersecurity consultancy Bridewell has revealed that ransomware has led to a significant revenue loss for 47% of businesses in the UK energy sector in the past year. 

The Cyber Security in Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) survey, which involved 521 cybersecurity personnel from CNI organisations in the UK, found that 45% of energy companies experienced operational disruptions due to cyberattacks. The research also reveals the challenges with addressing cyber incidents promptly, with phishing attacks being resolved in an average of 8.99 hours, while responses to ransomware and nation-state attacks took 14.84 hours and 18.77 hours, respectively.
