UK GDPR certification for Ad Tech in the works

09/10/2024 | DIGIT

The Coalition for Privacy Compliance in Advertising (CPCA) is consulting with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) on a project to develop a new privacy certification for advertising technology companies in the UK. The certification aims to provide clarity on UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance for ad tech businesses while increasing confidence among publishers and advertisers. The CPCA plans to finalise the certification criteria by early 2025 and aims for a full launch next year, with the long-term goal of expanding similar schemes across Europe to accommodate varying GDPR compliance requirements in different markets.
