NHS Covid-19 app has improved privacy protections over original model

A cybersecurity professor at De Montfort University in Leicester who spoke out against the centralised model of the NHS Covid-19 App has praised the privacy-focused design of the new app. He has even downloaded it himself. While the app's privacy is much improved, it has still experienced a number of teething problems since its launch, one of which involved spam marketing messages that The Register has confirmed the ICO will be investigating.
