Dutch DPA fines Uber €290m for GDPR failings

On Monday, 26 August 2024, the Dutch data protection authority (AP) announced its decision to issue a €290 million fine to Uber for transferring the personal data of European taxi drivers to the United States without sufficiently protecting the data, a violation under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
