The Italian DPA (The Garante) has launched a contest for creative ideas and solutions for making privacy notices easier to understand by using a standard set of icons. Entries can be submitted up until 30th May 2021. The Garante will select three datasets of icons and will make them available on its website for use by all stakeholders, specifying the author’s name.
The idea of privacy icons has been around for a few years now. More recently, Apple implemented a similar process on its App Store, requiring third-party app makers to inform users about their data collection practices.
