The CSC focuses on two main areas; the cooperation between data protection authorities (DPAs) and the supervision of EU institutions' large-scale IT systems. The committee said that it is "working full speed to accommodate the large-scale information systems that have already come under its purview," which includes the Market Information System and Europol, while "providing further clarification on the interpretation of EU and national law" associated with systems.
