EDPB, EDPS issue joint opinion on European Health Data Space proposal

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) have issued a joint opinion on the proposal of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The EDPB and EDPS outlined several concerns, including how "further processing activities are not without risks for the rights and freedoms of individuals." While the EDPB and EDPS recognise the effort to align the EHDS with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), they are concerned it will add further complexity and could actually weaken privacy rights under the GDPR in the matter of personal data and the secondary uses of data.
