The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has published draft guidance on the use of certifications as tools for transfers. The draft guidelines supplement guidance on Chapter V of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, outlining requirements for accreditation, certification criteria and commitments to adequate safeguards in transfers to non-European Economic Area countries. The EDPB has opened a public consultation on the draft that will close on 30 September. Earlier in the month, the EDPB adopted guidelines on the use of certification as a tool for transferring personal data to third countries.
