The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has asked the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) to annul two provisions of the Europol Regulation, which "have an impact on data operations" and could "undermine legal certainty of individual's personal data." In June, EDPS Wojciech Wiewiórowski expressed concern that amendments to the regulation and its data collection provisions would weaken data rights. Wiewiórowski said his CJEU request supports legal certainty and ensures EU lawmakers can't "unduly 'move the goalposts' in the area of privacy and data protection."
