Coalition oppose EU vaccine certificate

A group of 28 advocacy and civil liberties organisations have written a letter to the European Parliament urging reconsideration of its proposed Digital Green Certificate program. The organisations are "alarmed about the lack of protection for personal data" in the current proposal, noting "no safeguards against surveillance" and that the program "should do the utmost to reduce the data protection risk" once EU member states apply the certificates to other services. The EDPB and EDPS released a joint opinion on the Digital Green Certificate proposal in early April.

IN related news, Italy's data protection authority, the Garante, has sent a formal warning to the Italian government regarding the data protection risks associated with the EU's Digital Green Certificate program.
