European Commission to introduce ban on mass AI surveillance

The European Commission is planning to ban the use of AI systems for mass surveillance or ranking social behaviour in its draft rules on artificial intelligence. Fines of up to 4 per cent of global turnover could be applied to companies that fail to comply with the rules.
