EU Commission proposes a digital rights declaration

The European Commission has proposed fellow EU institutions join on a declaration of digital rights and principles. The declaration, which includes a commitment to privacy, would present a "clear reference point" for the direction of the EU digital transformation while also providing "a guide for policymakers and companies when dealing with new technologies." European Commissioner for the Internal Markets Thierry Breton said the declaration would ensure "top class connectivity, seamless access to public services, a safe and fair digital space."
