EURACTIV reports that the European Commission has so far been silent over the Trump administration's removal of Democrat members of the US Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB) and its implications for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF).
The Commission's silence is interpreted as a strategic move to avoid escalating tensions and to maintain a favourable business environment. Openly criticising the US could be perceived as a political attack.
How long the silence will last is anybody's guess, but the Commission will eventually need to address the implications of the PCLOB changes for the DPF.
