EU considers data sovereignty for cloud services certification scheme

The European Commission has tasked the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity to add data sovereignty requirements to the draft Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Cloud Services. If implemented, the draft scheme would require maintenance, operations and data processed by cloud service providers to be located in the EU. Furthermore, non-European access would be guaranteed by mandating cloud service providers have EU headquarters.
