The Council of the European Union has announced a 10th round of compromise amendments to the EU Artificial Intelligence Act text, excluding general-purpose AI from high-risk systems. The latest revisions are expected to be discussed at the next meeting on 14 December. AI systems are deemed high risk where their failure or malfunction puts the health, safety or fundamental rights of individuals at risk. "Pending discussions, GPAI (general-purpose AI) will be treated separately," a note in the text states.
