EU Council considers e-Privacy Directive revival

The Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union has proposed a revival of the review process for the e-Privacy directive. The draft conclusions from 9 October are the third version of the document and the second compromise between member states. The aim is to formally adopt a shared response to the European Commission's white paper: How to master Europe's digital infrastructure needs? during the December Telecom Council of Ministers meeting. 

The latest compromise text is due to be discussed in a Telecom Council working party meeting on 15 October. The draft highlights the necessity of implementing uniform privacy regulations to ensure a competitive and dynamic digital ecosystem.
