European Commission has no plans to reopen GDPR

The European Commission has no plans to reopen the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and instead plans to concentrate on enforcement amid growing concerns about privacy in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). The Commission's position is supported by the latest GDPR application report published in July, which highlighted enforcement issues but recommended no changes to the GDPR. The Commission is already engaged in adopting additional procedural rules to ensure more consistent interpretation and application of the GDPR.
