French DPA urged to act on Google Analytics use

The French data protection authority, the CNIL, has been asked to determine whether Google Analytics violates the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In a letter to the CNIL, nonprofit Interhop criticized e-health care companies’ use of the tool and called on the CNIL to review the impact of the Schrems II case on Google Analytics. Interhop also urged the CNIL to put a stop to any illegal data processing activities. Google Analytics has been a target for enforcement by EU DPAs following the Austrian DPA ruling last month.
