Google supports EU plan to combat child sexual abuse

A report seen by EURACTIV reveals Google is backing the need for a derogation from the ePrivacy directive and supports creating a European centre covering law enforcement, prevention and victim support at the EU level. “We agree that there is a need for a temporary derogation from the ePrivacy Directive in order to combat the sexual exploitation of children online,” Google said in a document submitted to the Commission’s public consultation on online child sexual abuse, due to be made public today.
