European Parliament co-rapporteurs have finalised the Artificial Intelligence draft report, which covers areas of common ground. The lawmakers agreed on a number of points, including broad definitions for AI and governance. However, some of the issues still needing to be resolved and therefore not included in the draft report are biometric recognition technologies and regulatory sandboxes. The draft is planned for parliamentary discussion on 11 May 2022 with the final vote on 9 Nov 2022.
The EU Commission published its proposal for AI regulation in April 2021.
