EU Commission opens infringement proceedings over NIS2 delays

The European Commission has opened infringement procedures against 23 Member States for not fully transposing the NIS2 Directive, which was due by 17 October 2024. The NIS2 Directive aims to bolster cybersecurity across the EU by enhancing the resilience and incident response of public and private sectors in critical areas. The Member States now have two months to respond and complete the necessary legal measures. If they do not respond satisfactorily, the Commission may issue a reasoned opinion.
