EU Digital Markets Act enters into force

The EU Digital Markets Act (DMA) has now entered into force. The European Commission said that regulation seeks to "put an end to unfair practices by companies that act as gatekeepers in the online platform economy." The DMA defines qualifying large online platforms as "gatekeepers" and establishes a list of "do's and don'ts" they must implement "to ensure fair and open digital markets." The DMA's provisions will apply commencing on 2 May 2023.
