European Commission introduces first EU GDPR certification

The European Commission has introduced the bloc's first approved EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) certification mechanism — Europrivacy. The data protection seal was recently approved by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the Commission said it aims to "increase the value of (companies and services') businesses and trust in their services." The Commission further added that Europrivacy "encompasses a wide range of data processing operations in many sectors" and can be used to assess adequacy for cross-border data transfers, select data processors, and certify GDPR compliance.
