European Commission proposes 6-month UK adequacy extension

The European Commission has proposed a six-month extension of its two UK adequacy decisions, which, if approved by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), will ensure the continued free flow of data until 27 December 2025.

The extension will allow time for the UK Data (Use and Access) Bill (DUA Bill) to complete its passage through Parliament, after which the Commission can evaluate whether the UK's new legal framework maintains an adequate level of protection for personal data.
