European Commission sends RFI to Amazon under DSA

On Friday, 5 July 2024, the European Commission announced that it had sent Amazon a formal request for information (RFI) under the Digital Services Act (DSA)

The Commission is seeking responses from the online marketplace in several areas, including the transparency of recommender systems, what options users are offered to opt out of being profiled for recommender systems, the design, development, deployment, testing, and maintenance of the online interface of Amazon Store's Ad Library, and any supporting information and documents about its risk assessment report. 

Amazon has until 26 July to respond to the Commission with the requested information.
