The European Parliament have announced MEPs will debate a draft motion for a resolution on the European Commission’s draft adequacy finding covering the EU-US Data Privacy Framework on 1 March 2023. Andrea Jelinek, Chair of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), will attend to present the EDPB’s opinions for MEPs to consider. Last week, the EU Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) urged the Commission to reject EU-US adequacy on the grounds that the framework fails to provide equivalence in the level of protection and that further meaningful reforms are required.
