EU institutions begin Artificial Intelligence Act talks

Committees from European Parliament and the European Commission commenced joint discussions on the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act. Italian MEP Brando Benifei said that the AI Act will aim to "protect citizens and consumers, and stimulate positive innovation at the same time, while focussing especially on SMEs and start-ups." Romanian MEP Dragoş Tudorache added the legislation allows the EU to "lead by example" and "shape the rules of the digital world according to our values."
