European Parliament publishes AI Act briefing paper

On Monday, 2 September 2024, the European Parliament published a briefing EU Legislation in Progress paper outlining the progress of the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act).

The paper covers various topics, including the original proposal's intended changes, opinions from advisory committees and national parliaments, stakeholder views, the legislative process, key provisions of the final text, and the latest issues in the policy debate, such as implementation challenges and international harmonisation. 

In related news, the international law firm Hogan Lovells launched two Applicability and Compliance tools aimed at helping organisations to comply with the EU AI Act.
