ICO and FCA to host AI adoption and regulatory guidance roundtable

11/03/2025 | Financial Conduct Authority

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have written a joint letter to trade association chairs and chief executives inviting them to a roundtable discussion on artificial intelligence adoption and innovation in London on 9 May 2025.

The letter reads: "As opportunities for AI deployment within financial services continue to grow, the FCA and ICO recognise the ongoing importance of providing the sector with regulatory clarity and certainty around the use of these and other technologies in ways that support responsible innovation and create benefits for the public."

The roundtable event is intended to help the regulators understand the various challenges companies face. The topics being discussed at the event include AI-related regulatory uncertainty, as well as how the ICO and FCA can support growth and provide greater certainty around data protection and financial regulation when it comes to adopting new technologies.
