EU questions Google over Meta ad campaign targeting teenagers

The European Commission is seeking additional information from Google following the publication of the results of a Financial Times (£) investigation in August into a covert advertising partnership with Meta that allegedly violated the company's own policies on handling minors online. 

The Commission has been investigating ad campaigns that targeted teenagers on YouTube to promote Instagram. In October, regulators instructed lawyers from  Google's parent company, Alphabet, to gather records, including data, presentations, and internal communications related to these campaigns. The information has been shared with officials in Brussels, who are currently considerring on whether to start a formal investigation.
