Apple's iPhone iOS 18 to come with on-device AI

Apple is set to launch the latest update to its iPhone operating system, iOS 18, which includes artificial intelligence (AI) functions that won't rely on cloud processing technology. On-device processing is believed to be superior as data will not leave the iPhone, providing users with a greater sense of privacy and security. However, to support this new capability, Apple is investing in hardware that can host AI, including an enhanced neural engine in the iPhone 16.
