The European Parliament's Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) is considering tightening political advertising regulations to reduce election interference and improve transparency. It would mean microtargeting voters based on their gender, race, sexual orientation, and other individual characteristics would be banned, as would be the use of children's data. The proposal would also impose requirements on the financial backers of candidates to be more transparent.
