FPF report analyses the California Age-Appropriate Design Code

The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) has published its analysis of California's Age Appropriate Design Code. The report outlines how the law "represents a significant change in both the regulation of the technology industry and how children will experience online products and services." Chloe Altieri, one of the report's authors, wrote that the State of California had taken a significant step to protect children online, particularly due to the absence of any federal privacy protections. Another, Bailey Sanchez, believes that these "child-centred design principles" will likely become essential to future privacy regulations. However, questions remain about the kind of services the code will apply.
