Gartner predicts 30% of GenAI proof of concept projects will fail

New research from Gartner highlights the challenges of investing in generative AI (GenAI) projects. According to Gartner, at least 30% of GenAI projects are expected to be abandoned after proof of concept by the end of 2025 due to various factors such as poor data quality, inadequate risk controls, escalating costs, or unclear business value. The financial cost of developing and deploying GenAI models is being increasingly felt as organisations struggle to prove and realise value.
