Proposals to regulate the fair processing of data in the UK and Canada offer a new legislative direction for data protection, according to Information Accountability Forum Executive Director Martin Abrams. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport's proposed Data Reform Bill, and Canada's Bill C-27, seek to address the "linkage between probabilistic programming … and the protection of individuals from harm." To ensure the safe use of probabilistic programming legislation must be "explicit" in its objectives, "flexible in its processes" and "adaptable in its enforcement."
